It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year at Rankin Elementary! Whether you're returning to our school or joining us for the very first time, we are so glad you're here.
Each year at Rankin, we choose a theme that reminds us who we are and what we value. This year's theme is one that I believe captures the heart of our school community:
We Are the Soil. Everything Grows.
At first, it may seem like an unusual school theme, but when you think about it, nothing meaningful grows without healthy soil. Our students are the seeds full of potential, curiosity, talents, and dreams. As educators and families, we have the privilege and responsibility of creating the environment where they can thrive. Growth doesn't happen overnight, and it certainly doesn't happen by accident. It happens when we intentionally cultivate the conditions every child needs to flourish.
At Rankin, our "SOIL" represents the foundation we strive to provide every day:
Support – Every child deserves adults who believe in them and cheer them on.
Opportunity – Every student deserves meaningful experiences that challenge them to grow.
Intervention – When students struggle, we respond early because every child deserves the support they need before they fall behind.
Love – Above all, we want every child to know they are valued, accepted, and cared for every single day they walk through our doors.
When those four things come together, incredible growth happens academically, socially, emotionally, and personally. It continues to be one of the greatest honors of my career to serve as the principal of Rankin Elementary. This school is special because of the people who make it what it is. Our amazing students, dedicated staff, supportive families, and caring community all play an important role in creating the kind of environment where children can become the very best versions of themselves.
As we begin another school year together, I encourage all of us to remember that growth looks different for every child. Some growth is easy to see, while other growth happens quietly beneath the surface. Just like a plant develops strong roots before anyone notices what's happening above the ground, our children are constantly learning, growing, and becoming.
Thank you for trusting us with your children. Thank you for partnering with us, encouraging us, and believing in the work we do together. We truly believe that education is strongest when schools and families work side by side.
Here's to a school year filled with curiosity, laughter, perseverance, friendships, and growth.
